HSMI challenge model
VESO Vikan has together with the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science established a new HSMI challenge model.
Significant effort has been made to understand the infectious dynamics of piscine reovirus (PRV) and development of HSMI. Veso Vikan is in samenwerking met wetenschappers van de Noorse School of Veterinary Science (NMBU) en het Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI). The virus was recently found to infect red blood cells, and very high levels can be found at early stages of infection.
VESO Vikan has established a sea water cohabitation model where high viral loads (up to 90 mill copies) can be found 6 to 10 weeks after challenge by cohabitation, followed by significant histopathological changes.
